What is Game Griefs..?

And who runs it?

Game Griefs is an outlet for me to share my personal reviews or experiences of games for you to enjoy and hopefully find helpful in deciding what games you may enjoy. The games I review for Game Griefs will not always be the most popular or most recent, but they will be ones I feel had an impact on me.

Who am I?

I like to think Game Griefs is the work of a simple man with simple tastes.

I've spent my whole life around video games. I didn't always play the games I've been around. I was a younger sibling and so a lot of my time was spent seeing my brother play games with his friends. Some of these games were Call of Duty: Black Ops, 1 and 2 (both multiplayer and zombies), as well as the Halo series. I played some other games, like Nintendogs, and a bit of Crash Bandicoot. I'd say I've played a variety of games like FPS games, fighting games and a few co-op games, although I am severely lacking in any MMO games, and only a few RPGs.

What else do I have going on?

I am currently a college student, which means I don't have a lot of time or money for games, so I reserve them for the games I believe I will enjoy the most. I have never been overly patient for anything in life, so if you combine that with my lack of excess time, it makes a very simple requirement for games to be rewarding for the time I do put in.

Competitive Games

I spend a lot of time on competitive games like Marvel Rivals, Overwatch, or Super Smash Bros. This is mostly because I get to play them with friends, and PVP games seem more prevalent than co-op PVE. But I must say, I don't really enjoy competitive games much, mostly due to a skill issue. I get incredibly frustrated rather easily on these games.

Co-op games

As sated before, I just do not see many co-op games come out anymore, which is really upsetting. When I say co-op, it usually entails PVE or just non-PVP games for the most part. I have played a couple, like Overcooked or Portal 2's co-op mode. I really love these experiences, and I would be interested in some more, but as it stands I don't feel I get the experience too often.

Single-player games

I do not get a lot of single-player games, yet they prove to be some of my favorites. I think I am scared to because I am afraid I'll get bored, as I don't entertain myself easily. When I do get a single-player game, the largest components i look for is a compelling story, and gameplay that offers a challenge, with a fair reward.

One example of a game series that has perfected this for me is the God of War (Norse series). Its' story keeps me pushing forward, and the gameplay is satisfying on its own, but the challenge adds an extra layer. I do not play Dark Souls games, because I find them too great challenge to too little reward, and I have never found the story to be gripping.
